tombalas commented on the post, Spykers Case Against GM Dismissed 1 week ago
Called it. The outcome was inevitable. I am surprised that Spyker’s lawyers didn’t at least try to squeeze a nuisance value settlement out of GM, as GM would have gladly thrown millions of dollars in order to […]

I did read it Tim. Where are the motors now?

tombalas commented on the post, BMW Court-case against Saab Parts postponed 1 month, 3 weeks ago
No reason for any Saab entity still in possession to not immediately return BMW’s motors if, in fact, title to those motors belongs to BMW. Any delay in their return suggests that somebody needs more time to […]

tombalas commented on the post, SAAB 9-5 Pendulum (Sway bar links) 2 months, 1 week ago
But there is a problem here. If you fix the sway bar links, then your Saab will not creak loudly in the cold weather when going over speed bumps. If a Saab does not creak loudly, is it really still a Saab? Discuss.

tombalas commented on the post, Power-plant: Chinese whispers 4 months, 1 week ago
It matters to me. Presumably motors built in Germany, Sweden, US or Italy are sourced with quality components. In China, the lowest bidder really means the lowest bidder. They don’t have the trust level […]

tombalas commented on the post, Hearing Set In Saab Case 6 months, 2 weeks ago
Just don’t see Spyker getting very far here. This sounds like an argument on GM’s motion to dismiss for failure to state a claim. Those motions are usually denied. Then the parties will spend a few years taking […]

£399 for an engine flush and some checks? Is this really considered a good deal in the UK?

Here in the states, my 9-3′s broken windshield was replaced with one manufactured locally by Pittsburgh Glass Works (PGW), which is the new name for Pittsburgh Paint & Glass (PPG). Nice piece of glass – there are […]

tombalas commented on the post, GMs Troubles Are Just Beginning 10 months, 2 weeks ago
3 billion is a rounding error for GM – Detroit isn’t losing any sleep over this. One this is for certain – GM’s lawyers will make sure the litigation is very expensive for both sides. GM may not have the […]

Question for Eagle63. I had a 97 900 with a 2.3 liter non-turbo motor – the window sticker said that the motor was manufactured in Germany. By GM/Opel? Who was the contract manufacturer for the 2.3s?

What is the purpose of using a jungle camouflage paint scheme on an fighter aircraft? Fighter aircraft are seldom parked in jungles. Seems like such an aircraft is just screaming to be shot down or, a la the […]

The article mentions that Jiang relocated to Sweden from China 23 years ago – so why are you shocked that he speaks fluent Swedish? If he didn’t speak it well after all that time, the I’d be shocked.

Padian? Swedish Armenian? Sorry for being so ethnocentric – but there really are very few of us left.

tombalas commented on the post, Press-release: SAAB Parts North America 1 year ago
When the press release uses the term “key suppliers” – is the word “key” intended to be a noun or an adjective? Because a transponder (key) is both – and the car will not operate without one.

tombalas commented on the post, Press-release: SAAB Parts North America 1 year ago
Yup – but registration of a business incorporated in one state to do business in another American state is much more than just the potential for lawsuits. Each state wants to assess taxes against the business […]

Have you tried to purchase one recently? The techs on Saabnet report that new transponders are now available and their orders are being fulfilled. I believe Delphi (a GM spinoff) manufactures them.

tombalas commented on the post, Spyker could revive the New Saab 9-5 1 year ago
Let’s assume this story is true or becomes true and the 9-5 goes back into production. That means those hundreds of 9-5s sitting on the docks are going up in value from where they are right now. Moreover, those […]

The likely reason Saab did not get major coverage in any of those US car magazines – or was criticized unfairly during comparisons, is because Saab didn’t purchase expensive advertising space in any of those […]
