The news, albeit expected, still saddened our whole family. My son has already started lobbying to take over his mom’s 2011 9-3 XWD SS in the event he is unable to purchase his own new SAAB in the future.
Until the Phoenix arises from the ashes, our thanks to all at SAAB for hanging in, particularly the SAAB workers who kept the faith – Thank You. We shall think of you all as we continue to enjoy our 2008 9-3 Aero XWD SC, our 2011 9-3, and our 2005 9-2X.
SAAB Forever!

Never had one myself (yet), but my dad has had only Saab since his first 2-stroke in the late 50s. Not sure about the first year, but it’s more than 50 years of Saab. All driven north of the Polar Circle, in Tromsø, Norway. Now at 78 years old he had a really nice 9-5 Estate.

PLEASE never ever give up the hope to build these wonderful, classy, unique, lovely cars IN Trollhattan! Rachel, please, please do not do the same as the Chinese did with Rover under the name Roewe. I believe in a better outcome.
By the way, many thanks…

Upon getting the news that Saab’s obituary was being written, I immediately set out to buy a new 9-5 Turbo 4 Premium. I have owned dozens of new Saabs starting with a Model 96 in 1972. Over the years, I have loved the cars, even when some of them were unlovable (after GM finished the takeover). I will always remember picking up the first 99 Turbo sold in Miami, Florida and driving it back to my then home in Tallahassee. Back then, radios were not standard equipment and my steel grey 99 was not equipped with one. I drove the 9 hour drive with nothing to listen to but the whine of the turbo and the occasional uncontrolled giggle as I whizzed up I-95. By the time I completed my adventure, I was ready to turn around and do it again! Such is life with Saab. Never having to give up practicality or safety in order to have a true ‘driver’s car’. I took delivery of my 2011 Arctic White 9-5 Turbo 4 yesterday and the same thrill that I just described returned as I drove off the lot. What a great car! Too bad the automotive public will never get the chance to have one of these great cars. So much room, so much equipment, so much comfort and so, so much performance all in one great package. So I advise the Saab lovers out there to grab these wonderful last examples while they still can. I will truly miss never having that ‘New Saab’ thrill again after the current thrill has calmed. To all who worked so hard to distinguish Saab from the crowd, to build a better product than GM ever could – thank you! And to you at SaabsUnited who have worked tirelessly to bring us a minute by minute account of the proceedings while Saab lingered in the hands of Governments and Corporate Toadies in an attempt to keep hope alive – thank you! Finally, to all the employees at Saab who brought me my new 9-5, I will spend a great deal of time thanking all of you with the wide smile on my face as I motor on.

Robert, some of us still haven’t given up at Saab and still hang on to hope that they will emerge from bankruptcy with a new owner and cars being built again. Hang in there and check back regular for news when it comes.

I could never understand the automotive press and their disdain for my beloved saab and subaru for that matter. Now subaru can do know wrong, they were on the edge in the early 90′s until they capitalized on the all-wheel drive lifestyle. SAAB could have been there to, but almost no advertizing doesn’t help. Friends of mine didn’t even know saab still made cars even 5 years ago or more. “what a shame” GM blows donkey d@ck!
