Great moments in Saab design – the button dash

A new occasional series here at Saabs United – great moments in Saab design.
Why?
First, because they need to be celebrated.
And second, because I saw this picture on Flickr and just had to find a good way to use it. I can’t think of a better one.
The Saab 9-3 button dash
Featuring on the Saab 9-3 from 2003 to 2006, the button dash was criticised by some for peeling plastics (in some instances) and by others for having….well…..too many buttons.
I think the critics should shove it. It looks absolutely awesome, especially at night, and after a short time is very intuitive to use.
Though it only lasted a few years before being dumbed down to appease the knuckle-draggers out there, at least it got a few years. A 2006 Saab 9-3 Aero with the combination of the gut-kicking 400Nm V6T and the button dash would have to be one of the most enticing Saab combinations out there.
Saab – thanks a bunch for the button dash. Click to enlarge.

No offence meant to the post-button-dash lovers out there. It’s just that I’m a button guy. What can I say?
