Saab 9-5 at the Miami Auto Show

The new Saab 9-5 made its US debut in an understated manner last week at the South Florida Auto Show in Miami.
Our mate Wulf left the cool climes of Michigan and popped in to show and he was more than pleased to get his first look at this new Saab.
I snapped a few pictures at the Auto Show in Miami Beach last night. There is nothing new we haven’t seen before but it was nice to see the new 9-5 in the USA. The Saab stand was not grouped with the other GM brands this time. It was in between Porsche, BMW and Audi. Finally the right spot where they belong. Mercedes-Benz wasn’t at the show at all.
Unfortunately, they kept the car locked and didn’t let anyone sit in it. They opened it up for me but the only thing I was allowed to do was take a picture and enjoy the new car smell. The 2010 9-5 looks even more impressive in person than it does in pictures. They told me production was going to start in January and first deliveries in the US are going to be in June.
There was also a Saab 9-3X, a 9-3 Convertible, Sedan and SportCombi. There was no 2009 or 2010 (old-generation) Saab 9-5 which was a bit disappointing. While the new 9-5 was the star of the stand, the current 9-5 SportCombi is still going to be for sale for 2010 and is a car people can actually buy right now.
I was there on a Monday night and it was the quietest auto show I have been to. While it is not a main auto show, it compared in size to the show in Detroit. Perhaps just a bit smaller. But definitely a nicer location compared to downtown Detroit.
Here’s a few of Wulf’s excellent images. You can view the whole lot at his page on Flickr.
