Stig Blomqvist wins La Carrera Panamericana

Former Saab factory driver and general all round Legend, Stig Blomqvist, not only completed the La Carrera Panamericana road race in Mexico – he cleaned up.
The man who we believe will be driving a Saab 99 Turbo in next year’s Midnight Sun rally (just like our guys from the Saabs United Historic Rally Team) made his way to the top of the field not through being the quickest all the time, but by being the cleanest.
La Carrera PanamericanaBlomqvist and his co-pilot, Ana Goni from Venezuela, drove their Studebaker so well that they accumulated absolutely no penalties at all through the seven days of the event. They were one of only three teams to go penalty-free through the La Carrera Panamericana this year.
Stig managed to rack up a decent lead over the first four days of the event and held that lead steady over the last few days to finish 12.5 minutes ahead of the 2nd place winners.
Congratulations to The Original Stig!
