Monday Snippets – small scale edition

Only a couple of this to report here…..
Beijing Automotive has a press conference scheduled for 4pm, Beijing time, to comment about its acquisition of some old Saab bits.
I assume there should be news hitting wires shortly afterwards.
Business Week have a good primer on the Spyker situation:

Spyker, the Dutch maker of $235,000 sports cars, is negotiating details of an agreement with GM over the weekend in Zurich, said two people, who asked not to be identified because the talks are confidential…..
…..Spyker is bidding in a partnership with Vladimir Antonov’s RMC Convers Group Holding Ltd, Spyker Chief Executive Officer Victor Muller said in a Dec. 2 interview. While Spyker hasn’t made a profit since its initial public offering in 2004, the Zeewolde, Netherlands-based company is better positioned than rivals because it most resembles Koenigsegg, the Swedish maker of $1.2 million sports cars, said one of the people.

I’m not totally convinced of the logic in that second paragraph, but if they can get the job done then they’re fine with me.
And before anyone emails or asks, this story at Jalopnik about the couple travelling from Sweden to Asia and back in a Toppola-Saab 900 was covered at Trollhattan Saab – back in 2007.
What I did find interesting, looking back at their trip, was that they attended the 2007 Saab Festival in Trollhattan on their way home.
I wish I’d known at the time.
