Whilst most people are waiting for the new Saab 9-5, there are some other great Saabs out there and the good news is they’re beginning to sell again. I speak, of course, of the various styles of Saab 9-3 out there. 2010 models have been shipping for some time but its only now that sales numbers are beginning to increase once again, thanks to continued life and the subsequent renewed interest in the brand.
I received this email today from Justin B and I’ll let him tell the story.
SAABs are selling again in the US. How do I know? Because I bought one yesterday!
My local dealer in Spokane, Washington (Jaremko SAAB) got a shipment of 10 new SAABs in last week. I was like a kid on Christmas morning. After looking at all of the new models on their website, I sent my good friend, Mark Jaremko (general manager of the dealership) an email. By the time I arrived at the showroom, we had a deal agreed upon.
I am the proud owner of a 2010 SAAB 9-3 Aero XWD. It is a beautiful car. I got it in Snow Silver Metallic. The metallic paint is really spectacular. Depending upon how the light is hitting it, the car looks either silver, blue or a combination of both.
What is most amazing about my new car is that it was the first new SAAB sold by my dealer in over a year!
The Jaremko family are amazing people. They invested tons of money just a few years ago to build a beautiful new SAAB showroom to compliment their new Nissan showroom. When times got tough, they never flinched in their support of SAAB. When other dealers were folding up, they were actually stocking up. Carter SAAB/Subaru in Seattle decided to shutter their SAAB dealership late last year. When they did that, the Jaremko family bought a huge supply of parts from them so that they could keep the dealership in Spokane well stocked. Because of all of this, I was very proud to be the first person in Spokane to buy a new SAAB in 2010.
On a side note, the car I bought was manufactured in May of this year. That is truly amazing that a short two months later, it is in the showroom of a dealership on the west coast of the United States. It would seem to me that SAAB’s manufacturing and distribution systems are up and running again.
Congratulations to Justin on the new purchase!
I’ve had a follow-up email from him since starting to write this post, which I think is a worthwhile addendum:
I hope there are lots of other stories out there just like mine. As I drove around in my new car today, I realized how great it actually is. As you know first hand, the XWD is amazing. Regardless of how purchasing a new car helps SAAB, it will certainly help me too when winter comes this year!
Aside from my happiness with Justin’s satisfaction here, I’m really pleased for Jaremko Saab as well. The faith of dealers like this one really needs to be repaid. That’ll come with Saab offering great product and the people getting more of an appetite for it.
