We got a good number of people along to Japanese Saab Support Convoys back in January (Tokyo and Kanazawa, Nagoya and one unspecified location) but Saab sightings in Japan are still a pretty rare thing.
It’s a strange coincidence, then, that I got two emails about Saabs in Japan today.
The first was an email from a guy named Paul J, who happened to walk past this restored Saab 96 a few days ago.
The owner bought the car from the US around 10 years ago. It’s been fully restored since, with the new paint applied only a year ago.
Paul talked to the owner about the new Saab 9-5 and how Saab had separated from GM in recent times, but he didn’t seem too interested. A vintage guy, I guess.
Thanks Paul for the images!

Given how rare Saabs are in Japan, one of you Japanese readers might be interested in this 900 Convertible that’s just come up for sale. The owner contacted me today. I don’t regularly do for-sale stuff here, but given the relative rarity of Saabs in Japan…..
I don’t know the seller, the condition of the car or even the price being asked for it. I can, however, put any interested parties in touch with the seller via email.
