The following is a press release from Saab GB.

Saab GB is pleased to announce the appointment of a new dealership in Inverness.

Ness Motors Ltd, situated on the Harbour Road, opens for business on the 1st January, 2011, and will offer the full range of Saab vehicles as well as providing full servicing facilities, MOT testing and an extensive after sales department supplying parts and accessories.

The existing County Saab dealership at 60, Harbour Road will close its doors for the last time on 31st December, 2010.

Chris Rankin, Managing Director of Ness Motors Ltd, explains: “We are pleased to open this new Saab franchise and see great potential for increasing Saab’s market share in Inverness.

We look forward to welcoming new and existing customers to Ness Motors and can assure you that all customers will receive the very highest level of care and service.”

Jonathan Nash, Managing Director of Saab GB, said: “I am delighted to welcome Ness Motors into our network of dealers. Ness Motors have a wealth of experience in the motor industry and will maintain the standards of excellence that our customers expect.”

  1. Ness Motors Ltd, situated on the Harbour Road, opens for business on the 1st January, 2010

Is it just me or is this a typo for 2011?

        • I thought the same Rune.

But then I realised that as it was indeed a public holiday and the one immediately following New Year’s Eve, or Hogmanay in Scotland, this might be a stroke of genius.

Imagine them all rolling into the dealership on the way home from an all night party and slapping deposits on 9-5s, 9-3s and 9-3Xs while still jolly and under the influence, then dancing away home merrily to await delivery with a hangover.

Clever stuff verging on marketing genius.

  2. County Saab is based in Ayr, and was our local dealer when we owned our NG900 (1997). They were fantastic in every way, and I gather still are. They expanded a few years ago to include Milton Keynes and Inverness – it is a shame they are having to give up their northern outpost. They are headed by an ex rally driver, and it was obvious to all that he and his team put the customer first. Yes, servicing costs were at the higher end, but you knew the work had been done by enthusiastic trained staff.
Good luck to Ness Motors, as well as County Saab.

  3. The issue with County Saab is location – as admitted by the salesman when I picked up my 9-5 SC Aero 260 from there in January this year (this is a separate story involving a one day return drive from Derby on the one day the snow was cleared on the road through the highlands) . Though they are officially on Harbour Rd (the main car dealership drag in Inverness), they were actually tucked away on a little sideroad cul-de-sac.
