  1. It’s open to UK residents if you have recently purchased a new SAAB and are receiving the official SAAB magazine. Entries are by post with an envelope provided.

    • Sappy,

Saab GB might be running one concurrently (first I’ve heard of it, but that’s great news). The rules, etc, posted here are for the US competition only. SCNA stressed that to me when they sent them through.

Note to all – if your country is running a similar competition, make sure you abide by the dates and rules for that particular competition. This stuff if for the US one.

  2. OT: In the new paper issue of Auto Motor & Sport, they’ve apparently tested the new 9-5 against the outgoing version of Audi A6. I haven’t read it, but a commenter at leaked that the Audi apparently won! I have no idea what they base that result on, but if a brand new Saab can’t beat an old Audi, not even in a “Saab fanzine” like AM&S, then that’s not good news.

    • From their web-site –

We test 9-5 against the Audi A6
How does the new 9-5 in the fight against Saab’s own primary opponent? We test and get a result that will surprise you. (not in a good way then…….)

      • Hold on, looking at the cover picture, looks like the NG A6, although it is mighty hard to tell apart (like all new Audis) it does look slightly more angular – so the 9-5 is beaten by the new A6, is that a surprise? Or does the 9-5 BEAT the A6, now that might be more of a surprise? someone will have to buy the paper copy and let us know……..

        • No, in the same issue where they test the 9-5 against the old A6, they also review the new A6. That’s why it’s on the cover. The reporter clarified this in a comment, so there’s no doubt about it, unfortunately.

According to the reporter, one of the reasons why they tested the 9-5 against the old Audi is that Saab have said that they used the A6 as a benchmark during development, so now AM&S wanted to check if the Saab engineers succeeded in their goal. Apparently, they didn’t. 🙁

          • I don’t care if the A6 “wins” on overall points thanks to some funky interior color combination and a cool display 😉

    • Doesn´t matter, cars like this are all very good, most buyers will buy the one that looks best, the Saab wins easy against the old and the new A6 (incredible dull). Most people will buy the Audi, they´re all over, but plenty enough will buy the Saab. I´m seeing a couple of them every day now here in Gothenburg, they really stand out, both in daylight and when it´s dark. Remember the 9-5 outsold the A6 Combi and Sedan this november, although the SC has not even arrived yet. When it arrives….

  3. Just take a look at that boring A6 and then look at the 9-5. I rest my case.

SCNA = Saab Cars North America so why is Canada not included?

  4. Extremely off topic… but couldn’t help myself cheering the outcome of the Car of the Year 2010: Saab 9-5!

    • No anyone can enter… Get out your flip video camera or any camcorder for that matter and record… really simple.
