British sales data has been released and it seems to have been a good finish to the year for Saab in the old country.
December registrations came in at 742 vehicles, which is 140% above the 309 vehicle sold last year.
Interestingly, the December performance for Lexus was 216 cars (down 13%) and Jaguar registered 1,070 which was 29% down on last Decembers 1,508.
Total Saab registrations in 2010 were 5,890 – a drop of 21% on the 7486 achieved in 2009.
A few other notes…..
This was the best December market share performance since 2007 at 0.6%.
Saab’s retail market share has grown steadily throughout the final quarter of 2010:
- 0.29% for October
- 0.39 for November, and
- 0.6% for December
I believe the target they’re aspiring to at the moment is a 1% market share.
Congratulations to Saab GB and their dealers. Keep in growing!

Great numbers! The UK market is really important. In 13 markets that has been presented here SAAB sold 3 560 cars in December. That is annualized 42 720. In the markets not presented (among them Germany, Denmark, Greece and Poland) SAAB could have sold another 300 cars. That would make a pace of around 46 000 car per year. It is not very good but the figures are growing. There is huge potential in Russia, China, Brazil and Canada and in all the markets that SAAB is operating in now to improve. I do not think the new 9-3 alone… Read more »
If SAAB can sort out their message (nordic, safe, quirky, what-ever, …) I think that they can become a niche player in the BRIC countries. And considering that they contain 40 % of the worlds population even a very small part of a specified niche market could become very profitable!
Swedish news sites report (rather) positive news:

Well done Saab.
…and it’s making the news! Not in a big way, but still. Very important.
32.048 is all right (y) 🙂

Saab Automobile produced 32.048 cars in 2010. 🙁
But sold almost every single produced car !! 🙂
More and more markets seems to report better figures. And december seems to be the month the momentum for saab finally kicks in. The trolls have ofcorse seen this coming for some time.
If this trend keep on, the second shift will come i guess. Just a couple month later, that’s all!
My mate Alex from South West Saab was one of those numbers. Collected his 9-3 TTiD Wagon on Christmas Eve. Looks great in White. Check the link on my name if you wish.
Awesome 30000+ way to go Saab!!!
The world became a better place in 2010 by having 32000 more, fresh Saab vehicles set on foot on the roads!!!!!
