I’m just wanting to let you guys know what is happening Down Under in terms of sales. I’ve just got my hands on the new car registration data.
In March the following was reported
- Saab 9-3: 12
- Saab 9-5: 5
- Saab 9-3 Convertible: 7
- Total: 24
That’s 24 cars for March, and the current year to date is 24 (so no sales in January and February). Last year after March the year to date sales was just 1.
WuNdErFuL!!! Sunny Cars to a Sunny country!
Cabriolets that is.
π
In March, Saab sold 830 cars in the United States.
You can have all the pep talks you want but SAAB is not going anywhere fast! Hard to sell cars for $40k when you may not be in business a few months from now. SAAB was already a scary buy and now it looks even more doubtful.
Yes its winding road ahead. But Im confident that they will manage despite the obstacles.
They are gaining sales and confidence.
Q1 2010 appr 4500 sold saabs. Yeartotal 30.000. Not much but then a just revived company.
Q1 2011 appr 9500 sold saabs. Yeartotal 60-80.000. With added 9-4x, 9-5sc, low emission 9-3ss&sc.
Finland as example. Sold 199 saabs 2010. In Q1 they have already reached 166 sold saabs. π
I can confirm sales restarting here π
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen three new sedans in the last 2 months (is it possible february sales are just included as march?). Silver, black and white. The white was at night time through a busy part in my area and it definitely stood out.
Hope to hear more from Saab Australia.
It’s the Swadeffect.
The first person to buy a Saab in March (or register their car) should receive a commemorative letter!
I wrote in March that Singapore was the 2nd largest market in the Asia Pacific region ( http://saabworld.net/content/impressions-singapore-second-biggest-saab-market-asia-pacific-region-263/ ). In March, Australia took over and could easily be #1 by the middle of the year.
Great story of you there!
Do you have any possibility to try to get hold of the numbers for February and March 2011 sales in Singapore? I’ve noticed we don’t have those numbers yet. π
Singapore 2011
Jan 12
Feb 3
The numbers for March is not out yet.
Nice! But the 9-5’s are the old version right? Or have the NG touched ground “over there”?
Registration of NG9-5 for the launch which is happening through this week.
Thanks Brendan!
Small number news… but it is at least uplifting news!
