Low carbon Saab is a hit with Alex

Below is a piece written by Steve Sowden from The County Gazette in Somerset, England.

Alex is a good friend of mine and my co-founder of South West Saab. The snowy photo’s were taken on the 24th December which was the day Akex received his new TTiD.

With an ever increasing focus on how we can do our bit to help protect  the environment, eco-conscious Alex Rankin from Yeovil has invested in one of the cleanest, low carbon Saabs ever produced.

When Saab recently launched its low emissions Saab 9-3 range, Alex headed straight to Astley Saab in Yeovil to find out more and was
instantly impressed by the quiet and smooth drive and superior  styling combined with class leading fuel performance and low emissions
offered by the Saab 9-3 SportWagon.

Alex said: “I was incredibly impressed by the power of the new 9-3 diesel range.
“The car handled brilliantly and offered the engine performance I was looking for whilst being low-carbon too.
“I like Saab because it stands out from the crowd. The low road tax was also a big incentive too! All in all I am delighted with the car and
it is great to know I am doing my bit to help minimise my impact on the environment.”
Saab’s 9-3 range includes three optimised twin-turbo engines across the range in the 9-3 Saloon, SportWagon and Convertible.
The most powerful version, the 1.9-litre TTiD 180hp manual saloon, has also been refined to not only offer incredible power, but deliver just 119g/km CO2, making it the most efficient four-cylinder diesel engine in its class.

With such optimum fuel efficiency, the latest Saab 9-3 range is a perfect choice for environmentally-aware drivers, taking it below the
120 g/km taxation threshold and making it tax-exempt for vehicle excise duty.

Jerry Peck, managing director at Astley Saab, added: “Here at Astley Saab we are delighted to be able to offer customers in Yeovil the
cleanest, low carbon and economical Saab vehicles ever produced.
“We look forward to welcoming customers to our dealership to experience the new Saab 9-3 low emissions range for themselves.”
Saab’s 30 years of experience in turbocharging ensures strong performance with impressive fuel economy, whilst Saab’s ‘right size’
engine strategy focuses on responsible performance throughout.

  1. Is this really snow on the ground?
    and
Do I recognize a known car in the last picture? 😉

    Alex,
have fun with your new car.

    • I must also be a man of taste, While waiting for my ordered Sportwagon, due end of this month, I am running a Sportwagon, a loan car from SAAB GB. Like Alex, I am impressed.

  2. Is their going to be any below 119g/km CO2 alternatives in the 9-5 SC, and if,does anyone know when? I’m going to the event i Stockholm but I doubt I´ll get any answers from the SAAB people.
