I will repost this thread during the week, as new market data keeps arising.
Saab did not produce cars for the last 7 weeks, so the May figures will only show how many cars the dealers had for sale, and not the real interest in the brand.
As always, you can post sales data here or send an email to sabsunitedcrew-at-gmail-dot-com.
Thank You to every single one of you sending us any sales data.
//RedJ
17 out of 36 countries have already published their sales figures, summing up slightly more than 1.000 units. Looking at the past months Saab should reach 1.300 – 1.600 units this month.
UPDATE:
UK, Japan and Switzerland are done and Saab has reached already 1.460 almost 1.500 registered cars in May. Still missing, The Netherlands, France and Germany and a hand full of smaller markets.
UPDATE:
This will be the last update, the German figures have arrived, and they are promising!! ๐
Saab has reached the 1.600 barrier, with still a few small size markets missing.
Further updates will only be reflected on the SSD page.

Otoh, the number of orders in May was higher than in January or March 2011.

Hard to include them too when they are not all built. Would really boost the numbers though.
SU publishes the registration numbers which are in most of the cases equal to the amount of retailed cars, but Saab will next month publish the H1 figures, and there we will see the Pang Da cars as wholesale.
dealers in austria could only sell their display cars at the moment (numbers were registration numbers)- so expect rising figures next month bring out orderd cars ๐
I think verts are sold out in Australia
Note to Saab, send more verts to Oz.
Note to Saab, we all need them. The shut down happened right when most dealers would have ordered vert’s for summer selling and now they are starting 2012 production, we need order guides so that we can start ordering now. On a positive note to vert’s, I just got notified that I may be able to get a 3rd Indy model for stock and my other two are pretty much spoken for.
Jason,
You are directing all of those customers to The Saab Club of Canada, right? ๐
SaabScott,
If I directed them all to the Saab Club of Canada, my local group SCWC would probably feel a little snubbed.
That data for “Small Markets” is in essence all of Europe?
Is UK the last big market there is?
Hi,
currently Saab has 3 big markets that make about 65% of the total sales. Those markets are Sweden, USA and UK.
Small markets are the rest, but keep in mind that Saab is sold in about 50 different markets, and we have only access to 35.
The 32 small markets are mostly in Europe, but it is also Australia, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan.
We do publish the numbers that are and when they are made public. The UK publishes its sales figures a week later.
Not all tho’. As I tried to post the danish numbers last month, the thread had been closed!
The danish numbers aren’t avaiable until the third week of the month – around the 17 – 20th.
Cheers!
Henrik,
I did notice it too. I don’t know why that post was closed for comments, but thank you anyway.
Funny we don’t seem to hear about Italy, which id the biggest of the small markets in this list. Viva Italia!
+1
๐
Avanti Italia !!!
Actually Belgium is a bit higher in numbers, but Italy is indeed moving in the right direction..
Just a glimmer of things gradually taking off.
IN the last 5 days I have seen 4 x new 9-5’s a siver one a deep metallic blue one and a dark gold-almost a brown metallic -(but it did not look like Java to me) and a light green metallic one.
Could have been out on long tests dirves we have a dealer about 5 miles away. but good to see, and they do stand out they look cool and are pretty big.
“….and are pretty big”
which could be the reason for the lack of interest from traditional Saab buyers, smart choice and all of that doesn’t go well with Caddie appearance.
To all reading this, it cannot be lost at how tremendous these numbers actually are. This month in 2010 Saab sold less cars and was saved and things looked somewhat rosy. In the last month and a half Saab has been to hell and back and sold more cars. We all knew the numbers wouldn’t be huge, but for me it actually looks better then I would have imagined.
Jason,
you might be right. The current forecast for the month is about 1.500 units were in 2010 Saab registered (in the markets we follow) 1.467 units.
But yes, the figures are quite good, for the circumstances. ๐
Numbers were ok – because these were registrations and most sold cars this month were inventory and display cars in europe.

Stefan, the figures from the Bulgarian site are always YTD.
Aha, so sad. ๐
Explains why thereยดs always 4 people buying Saabs each month! ๐
It occurs to me that the small markets should be turned into larger markets where the countries that are termed small markets, have large populations with sufficient financial resources behind them. For example, it is sad to think that France, Germany and Italy are considered as smaller markets. Perhaps Saab should look at some form of country specific low cost extra marketing (e.g. Radio, Internet, regional and local papers). Due to my age, I listen to Planet Rock on DAB at home, work and in the cars. Currently Jaguar is sponsoring the hourly sports reports. I would guess that this… Read more »
Yes, all markets should increase a lot.. ๐
And some markets require more attention.
If you check the SSD page via the link up top you can now see all markets we cover divided in three groups. Instead of just showing the top 11 markets as before, I worked with the tables all monday to give them a better layout and show the numbers all countries we can cover.
