Saab PhoeniX Scoops Top Design Award In The 2011 Auto Express New Car Awards

Trollhättan, Sweden: The Saab PhoeniX has scooped the sought-after Design Award in the Auto Express 2011 New Car Awards, with an overwhelming 30 per cent of the magazine’s online readers’ voting the Saab PhoeniX as their number one ‘head-turning’ car of the year.

Sleek, innovative and exceptionally efficient, the Saab PhoeniX concept car showcases design features and technologies which will shape the next generation of cars from Saab.

Saab GB Managing Director, Charles Toosey, accepting Auto Express Design Award from Graham Hope, Acting Editor at Auto Express Magazine.

Speaking at the Auto Express awards ceremony held at Woburn Safari Park last night, Acting Editor, Graham Hope, said: “The Saab PhoeniX scooped the Design Award after topping our online poll. It was up against 39 rival concept and production cars, but won by a big margin, securing 30 per cent of the vote.”

Commenting on winning the award, Saab GB Managing Director, Charles Toosey, said: “We are delighted that the PhoeniX has been awarded this prestigious accolade. The PhoeniX symbolises a renaissance of the innovative spirit and passion that drove Saab to build its first car, the iconic Ursaab, and we look forward to launching the next generation of Saab models in 2012.”

Well deserved in my opinion.

A bit of good news. 🙂

Well deserved, let’s just hope they can get the 9-3 that’s based on it to market

Congrats Jason C and team !!

Love the car, it’s beautiful and breath taking. I agree with Alex740, let’s get the next gen 9-3 out there so people can see more than just a great concept.

Nate 9-3

…worth fighting for…

Reminds me of a Judas Priest song. 🙂
But I would go for this one at the moment

I still love the PhoeniX more for what it is than for how it looks. But it still looks very good

I wish (after all the money problems are resolved, if they are resolved) that Saab could in fact build a supercar based on this. Given Spyker were a supercar builder I would hope this may one day be on the cards. That PhoeniX is awesome!

Good news. Now raise from the ashes, Saab 🙂
