Sunday Snippets

I think it has ben a long time since the last snippets post from Saabsunited, but the reasons, at least from my side have been many and different.

It is a long time since I’ve posted about the Saab Sales Data. First of all, Saabsunited will reopen the SSD section of the site, but it is not the top priority now, and we all know why. Despite this I keep collecting the data and finding more reliable sources for the registration numbers.

As you can see in this image the current sales figures are quite low, and every single market has shrinking figures, maybe the US is the only market where the figures are stable at 300-350 units per month, which is about 50% of the total registrations in October.

Regarding the mid-size markets, Italy(831) and Belgium(833) are fighting for the number one place on the mid-size group. And it looks like Canada and Australia will also belong to the mid-size markets in 2012, as Canada has left four countries of that group behind and Australia three.

As earlier reported the Spanish Saab dealer tour started on Friday, and yesterday (Saturday) the tour had a stop in Barcelona, a very nice and Saabish city.

A first impression of a family visiting the Saab dealer on Saturday has arrived to us, and I would like to share it with you.

Hi SU Crew,

First of I would like to point out that all of you are making a great job.

This morning my wife, our three-year-old son and myself went to SAAB BARCELONA dealer, where they were hosting the Saab Dealer Tour of Spain. The Saab 9-4x and Saab 9-5 SportCombi were present as announced.

We can tell you that we were very well treated by all the personnel, we talked of how special is Saab and how ourselves don’t find any brand that could substitute it. We even got a chance to try a Saab 9-5, my wife did the driving and as soon we she got off the car she went straight to talk to the salesman and see how we could end with a Saab 9-5 in a short term.

People started to appear, mostly families, and they were quite interested in the Saab 9-4x.

After spending one hour and a half at the dealer were where given some presents Saab related.

We left the dealer more than satisfied, the people there where very warm and kind. In short words: Excellent service.

Hoping for the best to Saab.

Find attached some photos of today’s event.

Best regards,
M.A. & NG

Back in summer, the Swedish Police had to cancel an order of 50 Saab 9-5 SC as police cars. We all know that the only reason for that is the production stop. The Swedish Police in order to not be dependent on only one brand have searched for an alternative to Volvo and have chosen to use VW Passat cars.

According to Inside Saab people think that the Swedish Police think that the Passat is better that the Saab, otherwise they would have chosen a Saab car. Steven Wade from Inside Saab has got access to the evaluation documents of the Saab 9-5 SC by the Swedish police, and the comments point only in one direction.

There is nothing negative to say at all, a fantastic chassis.

Lateral movements at high speeds (~ 220 km / h) are very stable and safe.

Altogether it is estimated that this chassis is the best thing that has ever been tested and therefore awarded the highest rating class: full marks

So, if you see a VW in Sweden with the Polis word on the side, be sure to make a photo, as it could be one of a kind. 😉

This video has been sent to us by the artist himself, maybe some of you don’t like the music, but what he has done in the music video is worth mentioning.

This are his words

I am a Saab 9-3 owner, as well as a singer songwriter who writes down-tempo electronica dance music.

When planning for my latest video I decided to feature my personal Saab 9-3 to showcase the vehicle to a new generation as the sexy/classy car of choice. I’m just trying to do my part to raise appeal, and create demand.

I would love to share what we came up with you, and lend my support to the cause.

Here is the brand new video hot off the editing board.

You can also find it on my personal site.

Thank you for your time, and I hope you enjoy the video… SAVE SAAB!!!

I like the music, and the video is also quite good, the best part is from timestamp 3:18 till 3:23. 😉

Enjoy the week ahead.

Nice Snippets RedJ! That graph is really interesting to look at. It would be interesting to study how negative publicity affected the sales in all markets outside the US vs. declining inventories. It’d be helpful to see how many cars were left in stock in each market at the end of each month, I know that I get that info through SCNA, but it’d be great if we could track that too in the future.

Nice video and great support thanks John Eye!

I enjoyed the video very much. I envy artists who can create such works, it’s a skill I’ve longed for but never had.
Can someone help me find another Saab-based music video? I remember one using an old Saab 95 (not 9-5) wagon. It was flying through the air throughout the song. All I can remember (IIRC) is that the artist was UK-based, and I think his first name was John. It was also a very enjoyable video if anyone knows where it can be found.
