Our Road trip to Oktoberfest ’12

This time last week we were nearly back in England, having covered almost 3,750km, 2,330 miles (in total) across six countries, twice, apart from Sweden.

Oktoberfest was a great occasion as it was last year. The difference this time around was that I had company during the travels. Martin, who will tell you he did 7 countries as he lives in Wales and Nicolas and Amaat from Belgium.

We arrived to a stunning sun set in Trollhättan and were lucky to see a tanker about to enter the top part of The Locks. Then it was a quick visit to the Museum to meet the SU crew and a few other welcome faces. While we were there I had to take a look at the NG 9-5 SW and have a dream.

Well I don’t need to tell you about the weekend as Tim has produced some stunning reports but I did spend a lot of the time meeting lots of Saab enthusiasts while looking after the SU shop with-in ANA. Great chats at the Museum, although I missed the early ones due to, amongst other things, being interviewed by the TV station.
Great time was had at The Swania, lots of food and drink until the early hours

I have put a few photos on my flickr site for all to see if you wish.

Well done Tim and the team for organising a great event again. Now we look forward to 2013.

Nice Photos Robin! =)

Reading your story makes me wanna be there next year even more. Drinks and food always good hehe.

Trollhattan is a wonderful place and would’ve visited last summer but the cessation of production beat me to it….fun times at the locks and at Vattenfall. Done the ‘I’m not worthy’ thing outside the plant too.

I love the shot with the 92-95-96, fabuolus perspective.

The image of the NG 9-5 makes me want to go on a rampage in Detroit. How dare they deny us such a fabulous car.

It was indeed a fantastic trip and a big thank you to Robin for making it possible for me to join him. Those pictures certainly do our trip justice. I would urge anyone who has never attended this event to do so. As Robin has stated, we set off from the UK, me from Wales, Robin from England then drove through the following countries: France, Belgium (where we picked up Nicolas & Amaat), Holland, Germany (overnight stay), Denmark and finally Sweden. A great experience and made so welcome both along the way and in Sweden.
