Today I received an email from Christopher Wiseman who is the Marketing and Communications Manager at Saab Automobile Parts North America. In the email he states that SPNA completed its rollout of the Saab Secure Program to the OSC network, with the launch of Saab Secure Vehicle Service Contracts to the U.S. market. In the first day, they are already seeing some vehicle service contracts being completed as well. For anyone who had experienced problems in the past about purchasing a vehicle service contract, your dealer should now have documents needed in place. If you click the ad above, you will be directed to the Saab Secure page where you can find your closest dealer. As a dealer manager, I can tell you that we all look forward to being able to help you with all of your SAAB needs and this helps us in offering solutions for our valued friends and clients. As mentioned in an earlier post, SPNA has a customer service number as well at 1-800-955-9007 to help you as well.
It’s reassuring to know Saab hasn’t imploded—-that there is still help for owners.
It’s nice to have the 1-800# specifically for Saab customers too. I have to say that for me, I have been able to get responses on most matters quicker from them when I email or call then I have in the past with a bigger parent company. They may be small now but the level of service is huge.
Jason: It is great to hear that you’ve had positive interactions with them! The few times I had to deal with GM/SAAB customer service back in 2006 it was abysmal, at best. I might as well have been talking to a brick wall.
Glad to see any amount of effort to help out the 2010-11 owners..
Does your son still have his 9-3?
Hello again, long time no chat on SU! Yes he does, loves the car with no regrets, just wishes he still had all the maintenance and warranty.
Yes, since getting a ng9-5 back on labor Day, my times been focused on an owner sight on Facebook. Man, I love this car more than I possibly thought I could. The good does out weigh the risk, but I went into the purchase post bankruptcy.
Denise & I are celebrating Valentines a week late w a trip to Simeone Museum for the SAAB launch party this coming Friday.
I’ll see you there!
Fine and dandy Jason but my dealer is still having a hard time getting parts. Been waiting weeks for $200 worth of parts to fix passenger mirror on 2011 9-5 Turbo 4 Premium. Just bought a 2001 Volvo and the local Volvo dealer has got me parts the next day no matter how insignificant the part, down to seat levers and screw covers.
I’m sure frustrating doesn’t begin to describe that David. Hopefully things will get better—-and hopefully they won’t get worse. Luckily, I haven’t had a need for any parts for my ’04 9-5 lately. I dread the thought of dealing with it when I do.
What kind of passenger mirror parts for your NG 9-5 are you looking for david?
I am not sure exactly which parts of the mirror they ordered. Initially it was going to be $1100 (gulp) for the entire mirror by the Saab mechanic at the dealer was able to use most of the mirror. It has been taped back together and works temporarily.
Sorry to hear about your parts being tough to get. We know the people at SPNA read this stuff so hopefully your parts will be located. Obviously with Volvo, they haven’t had to restart their parts business so parts wouldn’t be hard to locate because dealers carry a lot of stock too. I hope we all get back to that level too.
I will say that in the last five months since I purchased my used 2004 9-5 ARC that there are many more parts in stock for my car than there were 5 months ago. They were all rather small, insignificant parts,(like a 2.3T emblem for my trunk deck) but it is nice to see that SAAB is showing stock again for these type of parts when my dealer checks on availability.I am seeing the proof that these guys are serious about turning things around.
We shall see. I have two 2004 9-5 Arc’s that need some work, one in particular is missing several plastic pieces and the windshield wipers aren’t working right. Not sure what the other one needs yet. (My daughter and son in law own these). I also have a 2006 9-3 wagon of my own that has a window and sunroof issue and an alarm issue. So we will see what happens when I try to get them serviced in the near future. I would like to share your optimism, but call me a skeptic for now. I bought the Volvo… Read more »
good news because I called my “authorized saab specialist” on Wednesday and they were clueless about the details.
dcpattie, the email from SPNA that I received was yesterday so I would assume they would have it now. I find it odd though how any dealer would be clueless. I’m in Canada and knew the program was coming, we had an email that came through with an overview of the program and explaining what Saab Secure was, I wanting answers went to the BG site and found out what the BG Lifetime Protection Plan was and even made my own pdf on it and asked SPNA if this was what we were getting and they confirmed it. I even… Read more »
They didn’t know (1) how they would be reimbursed for the free service and (2) the details of the initial extended warranty or the additional coverage plans. I’m going in on Feb 27 so hopefully by then they’ll understand how the program works.
Ah, okay that makes more sense. Everything should be in place now and if you have any issues on the 27th, please let me know.
I have a 2010 9-3 with $ 47K on it and I see 2 problems with the site. First the maintenance interval list is 7500 mile. My service book lists 10,000 miles and that is what I have been following with my service center. Second the site does not detail any costs, milage limits etc. Do I have to call to find this out?
LOGale, the Saab Secure program is administered by BG and for the coverage to apply you have to follow their suggested intervals which are different then what is stated in the service book you would have received at time of purchase. As far as pricing for service visits, you would have to check with your dealer for prices as they are able to set their prices.
Doing your oil change intervals at 7,500 miles will cost a slight bit more over the ownership period of your car, but if you compare that small cost increase, it is significantly cheaper than spending $thousands$ of dollars to purchase an extended warranty contract. Besides, your car will thank you in the long run, and nobody ever was let down by servicing their car prematurely. Cleaner oil means better engine protection, better gas mileage, and performance. I think it has been proven in the past that turbocharged engines will benefit from not letting oil get dirty and bake inside the… Read more »
Hello all. I am very interested in hearing about people’s experience with this program. There’s just something about this that feels like an email or letter was sent to these dealers, but no one there will really know about this. I get this feeling because every dealer that ever sold Saabs in the Chicago area is still listed as an authorized service center. It looks like SPNA just took the old dealer network database and reloaded it. My original dealer is still listed and while they may service Saabs still, they now sell exclusively Maseratis or something. Other dealers specialize… Read more »
I guess they sell Aston Martins not Maseratis and their site has actually no mention of Saabs, there isn’t even a single used Saab on the lot. Maybe I’ll drop $200k on an Aston Martin while I’m arguing over whether I’m supposed to pay for my oil change.
Chris, you could always head down the road to Gartner Saab (formerly) and get a Hyundai! From what I’ve experienced, Rose at Patrick Saab in Schaumburg is pretty knowledgable, and she’s cut me deals on my regular maintenance. About a month or so ago when news of this program first came out, she at least had some knowledge of it and said that they were giving her more info shortly. I haven’t talked to her since, because their technician was off on the week I needed an oil change (before a long road trip). Might be worth calling her to… Read more »
Little discussion on the actual programs. I called them and got some information but was refered to the local former dealer who is still a Saab service site. They said that they were NOT participating in the program. Called a dealer 60 miles away who thought they would participate but had no real information. It may be a misunderstanding but they stated that the repairs could only be performed at one os the offical service providers. It that is true it would make this of little value particularly on a trip were you could be easily 500 to 1000 miles… Read more »
