One has to say that these are historic shots. Four 9-5 II Sport Combis in one place will remain a rare view. The reason for the meeting was to get those cars street legal. An issue that Saab Service Lafrentz has earned a lot of experience in recently. On that day the three visiting Combis (from Sweden, Switzerland and the Baltic region) got all approvals to get registered for road use.
Enjoy the sight. Those pics also show the differences between European and US-version in the bootlid design.
Thanks to Tom of saabblog.net for the pics.

I wholeheartedly hate GM for not allowing us this gorgeous car. Such beautiful automobiles – especially the dark Aero is staggering!!
GM was only a very small reason why this car didn’t become a reality… there are lots of others to blame!
The dark java-brown is wonderful, and I had my sights on one of those in the future. But I don’t think that car will be available for me now as only one exists.
And for that I blame GM, since they were in power when it mattered most.
Do you think Youngman/Lotus would have built this vehicle if GM didn’t negate that sale by saying no to licensing the 9-4/9-5? If the answer is yes, than GM is a VERY HUGE REASON why this car was never built. If Youngman had no plans for it, I guess GM wasn’t a big issue.

Congratulations to the dealer in Kiel who assists others in getting these beautiful cars authorized by sharing his experience.
Hope to once see one of these cars on the road.
It is interesting that they can do what everybody said was impossible. Does anybody know how?

I think Markus knows 😀
Best regards from a fellow Saab dealer in Southern Bavaria. Gute Arbeit Markus und Grüße aus Bad Tölz!
Just a question about the bootlid design.
I see on micture no 5 three cars with the same boothlid and one with a different one ( the black one has a different one compared to the three ohers on the picture).
What version is the European one?
The dark car is US, and the white is european.
Thanks, Hans.
I do like the European more while it is more streamlined as in the 9-5 NG sedan.
The US bootlid is more like the 9-5 Estate from the earlier generation.
What was the reason for the different designs? Is the additional bootlid material on the Euro version steel or a filler piece of bumper material?
One day how do we find one of these for the SAAB Museum?
Isn’t there one there? I thought I saw a photo of one there, I may be mistaken though.
There is one in the museum!
Its been there since the 9-5 SC was first revealed, behind DJA880, in front of 9-5 Sedan and a 9-4x =)
I would have bought one of those wagons. I was just waiting to pay off some debts.
I think a saw the white 9-5 estate two weeks a go on the ferry from Denmark to Germany! It had Kiel numberplates on it, realy Love it!
