Saab 9-5 2012 Sportcombi

A new website has arrived that is dedicated to the 2012 Saab 9-5 SC.
It is a site that chats about the fantastic 9-5 Estate that never made it into full production and stories from thier owners.

Welcome to the all new 9-5 Sportcombi 2012 website! We have been on Facebook for some time now and thought we would like to expand to the internet to be able to contact even more people who owns or have an interest in this fantastic car. This is one very rare car only 27 known after various cars have been destroyed in test etc and at the moment we have only found 23 off them. Please help us get more information. Thank you.

Hop across to and take a look for yourselves when you get the chance.

One of those missing 9-5 Wagons is the one that came to the UK. Do yo know where it is??????

  2. “Fordonsstatus: Avregistrerad (2012-12-21)” means that it is deregistered in December 2012. Could be one of these cars been destroyed in test etc. Or stolen by Aston Martin…

    • Very possible. The auction was in December 2012. Only Saab Automobile AB had the right to drive these test cars on the road, so I think they had to be deregistered before they were sold.

  3. For information, a bit of Google Earthing based on the road signs reveals that LGC 777 was pictured in Salford (UK), just East of Milton Keynes at the junction of Broughton Road and Wavendon Road.

    • I figured it out last night too 😀 . Thanks to The Swan being in the background it made it a bit easier to find!

      • And the right turn indicator is on – consistent with road position. If you look right, the Millbrook road test centre is just down the road in that direction! So “home” might be back towards Milton Keynes or one of the surrounding villages. Speculation is fun!

  4. Quote Wikipedia: “Bond’s vehicle of choice in many of the John Gardner Bond novels, beginning with Licence Renewed. Dubbed, “Silver Beast”,[32] it is Bond’s private vehicle modified by a real-life company “Communication Control Systems” (CCS) (now called Security Intelligence Technology Group[33]). He also rents a SAAB 9000 CD in Nobody Lives for Ever (1986) and No Deals, Mr. Bond (1987).”

As suggested earlier, next Bond film…..

  5. The photo was taken less than 1 mile from Saab GB’s HQ at Cranfield. Nothing to do with Aston Martin, Autocar etc.

Interesting that the car may have been left in the UK though?!
