Saab Owners Club GB New Group

Dragon Saab

It gives me great pleasure to announce the formation of a new local group of the Saab Owners Club GB in my home country of Wales UK, in particular South Wales.

We have not had a regional group of the SOC in Wales for some time so with the commitment of a few local SAAB enthusiasts DRAGON SAAB has been formed.

For those that are not familiar with Welsh folklore the dragon is our national symbol, and yes, we are also
known for being pretty good at rugby too! HaHa.

The first meeting of  DRAGON SAAB will be at 7.30pm on Tuesday 3rd September at the Ty Nant Inn, Ty Nant Road, Morganstown, Cardiff,  CF158LB http://www.sabrain.com/tynant . As this is the first meet It is hoped it will be supported by as many SAAB owners/enthusiasts as possible. It is then   intended for the meet to occur on the first Tuesday of each month thereafter.

The formation of this group is based very much upon creating an informal, friendly, family orientated environment where EVERYONE  is made to feel welcome whether linked to other affiliations or not. I personally wish this new club every success it deserves.

Please look out for DRAGON SAAB and offer any support you can as all input will be most welcome indeed.

If you require any further information or help with your Saab then please contact either myself here or Chris Redmond at  [email protected]

SAAB CabrioChallenge 2013

cabriochallenge2013mioh001

The weekend 17th and 18th august the annual SAAB CabrioChallenge took place in Roslagen, Sweden. It was according to mioh (that were kind enough to send us some nice pictures) a great success with only happy people (as usual).
I can’t agree more myself, when I see this pictures should I wish I had a cab…
The following is a text  Fredrik (Sword) and Anna sent us:
Thanks to all three of you for sharing!

The Saab Museum on Swedish TV

Tonight Swedish Television broadcasted a show about classic cars. One of the segments was a lovely presentation of the Saab Museum in Trollhättan and my favorite (and yours, I’m sure) museum curator Peter Bäckström.

Hopefully this is available outside Sweden. It works for Thilo so it should work for you.

The nicest car in the museum’s collection?

The really good stuff starts about 14 minutes and 8 seconds in. There are some other nice cars as well, but my wife could not be bothered to watch that now so we skipped over those parts.

Classic 900 Nostalgia

I just came across this item from an old UK Top Gear TV programme which I thought might interest all the Classic 900 fanatics out there such as myself. I fully endorse what Quentin Wilson says in this report which shows what a class act the 900 really was in its day and still is! My rare 2dr T16s still gets admiring glances everywhere I go in it, and it is not unusual for someone on a petrol forecourt  to pass a complimentary comment. Hope you enjoy.

SOC 2013 Followup

Before the Saab Owners Convention even started I had received an email from Christopher Wiseman from Saab Parts North America asking if it would be alright for Saab Parts to do a post on the event to let everyone know all about it. To say that SPNA were excited about being a part of this event and to meet everyone there would be an understatement. Since the event, I have received a number of emails from Christopher with photos from  and today this write up that was done by himself and Jeff Gorenflo.  Enjoy, this is a great read.
