Swedish Day UK 2014

Swedish Day 2014 was our 7th event and this year also moved to a new home. Our new location was the beautiful setting of Haslebury Mill, which is located just outside Crewkerne. A fantastic 19th Centaury Mill with lots of history everywhere you look.
Traditionally Swedish Day always takes place on the Sunday with a carvery held on the Saturday evening. This year we added a new item to the mix in the guise of a Road Tour. The idea was Etienne Morsa’s who lives in Belgium and between him and his friends at “The Saab Farm” they produced a very leisurely 60 mile route taking in Muchelney Pottery, Perrys Cider and the seaside town of Lyme Regis. The tour was so popular that we will arrange for another drive in 2015.
The Carvery on the Saturday night was very popular and we managed to fill the attic restaurant with very happy diners. A big thank you to the chef and staff for making everybody very happy.

SOTW 16.05.14 George’s White Vert

Hi Robin,
I would just like to share with you photos of my 2009 9-3 TiD convertible which I just got back today after it was in my local Saab service centre for the hood to undergo “renovo” treatment. They have done a great job and the roof is now back to its former shade of blue, decided to get a full valet done as well…and to top it all, took advantage of the 10 day free trial of the Hirsch upgrade.
I hope you will consider it as a possible contender for SOTW sometime in the future…

Kind regards,

George McGuinness

SAABSTANCE Singapore’s 10th Anniversary.

This week we received a great file of photographs from the guys and girls at Singapore’s SaabStance club.
Below, Abel, tells us of the great day they had.

SAABSTANCE Singapore is at its 10th year anniversary mark and this May 01 also the date of the annual SAABSTANCE photo shoot. It is an annual affair whereby we met bright and early at 0715hrs to form up for an expressway convoy drive towards our breakfast destination at Adam Road Hawker Centre. (0800hrs). After a hearty breakfast, we then proceeded to form up for another convoy to our photo shoot location. It is a good time for all SAAB owners to bring along their families on this May Day [of which it is a PUBLIC HOLIDAY as it is Labour Day in Singapore] for a day out of community bonding and pilot camaraderie. There are many SAAB owners here that have joined us back when they were Single, till they are married and to today with their children along as well. Their dedication to the SAAB brand is a testament to the SAAB spirit over the years. Many of the owners here are driving their second, third, fourth and even two of us here [Dennis Leu with his Laser Red SAAB 9-3SC and myself Snow Silver 9-3 AERO SJG 360 E] are on our FIFTH SAABS already.

YouTube: SAAB Performance Team practising…

saabperformanceWe all know SAAB Performance Team and their amazing driving skills.
This time I found a nice video on YouTube, and for all of you hoping they was practising with the NEVS 2014 9-3 Aero I’m sad to say, it isn’t from this year… Actually it’s taken during some practising with the GM900 coupe in Billund, Denmark back in 1996! The video is partly taken inside the car, and I have to say, the driving it’s even more impressive viewed from inside the car! As you will see in the end of the clip, things wasn’t ending just as planed…

Enjoy this fantastic clip!

Saab Swedish sales data January April 2014

It is a long time since the last post in the category ssd (Saab Sales Data), but at last I’m once again able to report about new registered Saab cars.

You may say, that I could have started in January, as NEVS already appeared in the statistics back then with 5 cars, but those where registered for a company, and you will be right if you assume that that com pay was NEVS.

So the Numbers for the first moths are as follow

  • January 5
  • February 15
  • March 6
  • April 47
  • Total 73

Six of those 73 cars have been registered to a private persons. So I would say that NEVS has delivered 6 cars in April. Among the other 67 cars 50 of them have been delivered to Saab dealers as test cars, and as Tim told after his visit to his local dealer in Växjö, the interest in those cars is big. I would say that the remaining 17 cars are either company cars for the NEVS management (imagine them driving Audi or Volvo) or test cars as you where able to test drive the 9-3N from february in Trollhättan.

The figures aren’t impressive, but as long s they keep increasing over time, they can be seen as a first step in a long journey.
