sotw, Jacob’s pride and joy.

Hi Robin,

My name is Jacob Oyer and I’m attaching some photos of my 2007 Saab 9-5 aero sedan. Hopefully it’ll make the front page!

I love this car so much. I bought it 2 years ago and have done a lot of work on it with a friend of mine. Here a list of some of the stuff we’ve done:

Suspension:

-complete powerflex polyurethane bushing kit, including subframe bushings -SAS sway bars, front & rear (with SAS polyurethane sway bar bushings) -Moog front endlinks -Koni FSD struts, front & rear -Raybestos professional grade front strut mounts

Brakes:

-Goodridge stainless steel brake lines, front & rear -Stoptech Cryo-treated blank rotors, front & rear -Hawk performance ceramic pads, front & rear

Engine/exhaust:

-Silicone vac lines

-Genuine Saab polyurethane torque rod bushing -K&N cold air intake with hydroshield -Forge 007 piston diverter valve -“bolt mod”

-Complete turboback 3″ heavy grade aluminized steel exhaust -Vortex Cherrybomb muffler with Flowmaster chrome tip

Wheels/Tires:

-5 spoke Evo wheels from 2004-5 Saab 9-5 Aero -Dedicated summer and winter tired

Tuning:

-Stage 3 Mike D tune

-Headlight programming to Euro mode with Tech II tool

Detailing:

-Paint correction with orbital buffer

-Gtechniq C1 clear coat sealant

-Gtechniq ExoV2 hydrophobic coating

Anyway that’s it. Thanks for your time.

Jacob

  1. That’s a great looking 9-5 – and nice to see how it’s being treated. What’s the mileage on it? Where I live, 9-5s are used and abused – most have well over 100,000 miles on them and are not maintained. So it’s nice to see one in good shape for a change!

  2. hey thanks guys. i do love this car and plan on driving it for 300K miles. i worry a bit about the extra stress that the mods put on the engine and drivetrain, so i stick to 3000 mile oil changes and i flush the tranny like every 15,000… and i tend not to floor it out of stop lights. it’s got just over 90,000 miles on it now. I drive 75 or so miles/day to work 6 days/week so the miles add up quick! all highway driving tho, which I think we all know is where saabs really shine. highways are the wild saabs natural habitat. i should definitely give a lot of credit to my girlfriend’s brother Dave, who is a pro mechanic and took me through the big jobs, and to Mike D for the great tune and plenty of advice along the way. And yeah Luke I see a ton of beat up saabs; cars that have seen many winters and kids and pets and stuff. well loved in their own way but i’m definitely gonna try to keep this one sharp! thanks again
