SAAB Owners Convention 2011
August 18, 2011 - August 21, 2011
I’ve moved this to the front page because we’re only one week away from the 2011 SOC! If you’re attending, feel free to leave a comment! I’ll be there and hope to meet as many SU readers as possible. Most importantly, I’m excited to see some great Saabs!
-Jeff
Coming this August is the 29th Annual SOC 2011, taking place in Parsippany, NJ.
Marking the 25th anniversary of the convertible, there will be a special tribute to Bob Sinclair (and apparently a 1986 example of one in the lobby of the Hilton!). If you’re on the east coast, you won’t want to miss it.

August – the lazy of days of summer – what better time to pack up your SAAB and join your fellow SAAB owners at the 2011 SAAB Owners Convention in the hills of Parsippany New Jersey at the Parsippany Hilton just off Rt 287/10. You can’t miss it – it’s the ONLY Hilton to have a 1986 Convertible sitting in the lobby thanks to our friends at Goldwing! The event committee is hard at work planning this years event – SAAB is bringing new products for you to drool over – the 9-4X and, fingers crossed, the new 9-5 Sport Combi.
The infamous SAAB parts tent will again be opened on Friday but don’t spend all of your money there – we are inviting everyone and anyone to the “swap meet” located at the back of the showfields for folks to sell everything SAAB. Hop in for a vintage ride along courtesy of VSCNA. Are you curious about the power you’ve tuned into SAAB? Well sign up for a session on the Goldwing Dyno – we’ve made this activity very affordable so don’t miss out. We are in the midst of planning an autocross event, stay tuned for further details. (PS: We need LOTS of volunteers with this one!)
Friday night will be a big welcome to all attendees at the Mile-Hi Bodyshop Welcome Dinner, see old friends and make some new ones. Don’t forget to wash your car before Saturday morning so you can show off your ride in either the Con Cours or Perrine SAAB People’s Choice showfields. There is lots to do on Saturday – Visit the SAAB Heritage Collection, see new cars on display at Perrine SAAB (they may have some choice used convertibles for sale on-site), stop by State of Nine and see the new accessories Dan has on display. Bill Jacobson will have several cars on display at the Sports Car Service vendor area. Take a drive and enjoy the flavors of the area or line up for the Saturday BBQ cookout! Tech sessions will be running through out the day – ranging from performance enhancement to SAAB history.
But, save your energy, you’ll need it for the crowning event – The Sports Car Service Awards Banquet! Registration will be open shortly, so be sure to check back or follow us on Facebook for updated event details. If you have questions regarding the event, wish to sponsor an activity, or would like to volunteer – please Contact Us and let us know!

Looking forward to attending since it’s so close to home!
hmmm… Southern New England to NJ… it’s doable!
It is in my backyard, and looking forward to attending with my 1980 900 Turbo 5 door!
Went to my first one last summer in Aurora, Ohio, to hear JAJ and VM and I will definitely be back at this one!
Several of us are traveling this weekend to get things set up. If you did not register, Day Passes will be available for Friday and Saturday. See you there.
I’ll be there sometime Thursday afternoon. I’m driving out with my 12 year old daughter. It should be a blast!
I will be leaving Atlanta on Tuesday night and stopping at Sports Car Service in Deleware on the way! Looking foward to seeing everybody there!
Will be there with Marie & Laurence, starting with keynote speech Thursday. Looking forward to meet as many of you as possible.
My wife and I will be there with Dame Edna from Montreal. We are already in New Jersey with friends, and will be in Parsippany as of Friday.
There is at least one extra incentive to attend this year. See the SOC item on Saab Inside.

I concur. 🙂
Looks like my son and I are probably going Friday, weather permitting.
I think we are going to drive in for the day Saturday. Debating should we take my convertible in honor of the theme? But her 9-7x is a great ride for a three hour trip and Denise is bummed that we didn’t take it to Carlisle. At any rate I’ll be wearing my grey and white SAAB T. It has a profile of the 9-3 convertible and says” pilot found” across my back. We had fun making and ordering shirts through the link last year. Safe travels, everyone! -Derek
